Camellia Waldorf School offers a homeschool option for families who wish to stay connected to the Camellia community but plan to keep their children home this year. Whether you are a current student or new to Waldorf education, this program is open to everyone, kindergarten through 8th grade. Students will be enrolled in our school, so there is no need to enroll in a charter homeschool. Parents are supported and guided to teach a Waldorf curriculum to their children by Amanda Mutrux, an experienced Waldorf class and homeschool teacher. The curriculum can be uniquely designed to meet the individual needs of each child, while at the same time allowing for continuity with Camellia classes by following a similar block schedule.
Initial Meeting: Ms. Mutrux will meet with the family and student, discuss the curriculum overview and plan for the year
Monthly: Parents meet with Ms. Mutrux to review and share student's work, discuss progress and plan for the following month.
Weekly: Up to one hour per week of assistance, questions or direct online teaching with Ms. Mutrux via Zoom, phone, email or text.
As Needed: Clarification and support by email or text.
Virtual Participation: When available, in any festivals or parent education events.
Additional Resources: Virtual enrichment classes/tutoring sessions can be arranged for an additional fee. Supplies and resources may be available to borrow.
In addition to our full home school program, Camellia continues to offer a variety of enrichment classes, including strings, movement, recorder and more.

Having been homeschooled for several years as a child using a Waldorf Inspired curriculum, teaching for many years in private Waldorf schools, and homeschooling her own children, she has many resources, knowledge and insights to share.
Her background includes a degree in history with a special interest in Islam and other cultures, strong interest and experience in art and music, basic proficiency in Spanish, years of experience with handcrafts, urban homesteading and knowledge of various remedial approaches to support student learning. Recently, she has enjoyed developing her skill and understanding of upper grades math and geometric drawing.
Ms. Mutrux joined Camellia in 2013.
